To promote the show Death & Dressing Up I created images of forgotten queer souls using a simple game of cut-up. These portraits celebrate the absent dignitaries of queer; noble kings and queens lining the halls of pink castles, or playful families dragging combs through their wigs, sitting upright, and posing for the small gilt frame to sit on the grandparent’s sideboard. They remind us of the hotchpotch collection of moods, expressions and perceptions that make up our identities; our portrait shows someone, but who the hell is it?
